For two years, the Fertile Ground: New Music & Art Series has been bringing incredible talent and energy to the stage at The National Black Theatre in Harlem. It has consistently provided artists - both new & seasoned alike - a chance to present material in a space that is warm, inviting, and encouraging. The Fertile Ground House Band has risen to the occasion of providing these artists with quality music & an incomparable aesthetic bed of sound for their work every time they get together to perform. And the consensus continues to be that Fertile Ground is unlike any other variety showcase in all of New York City.

It is with this confidence that, as co-coordinator, P. Murray & PMG proudly invites you to the extended two-year artistic celebration on Thursday, November 10th, on the NBT stage. We will be inviting back some Fertile Ground favorites to reacquaint our audience with their work, and we will welcome new creators & artists to present their talents alongside them. It is going to be a truly incredible evening, and you do not want to miss out. Thank you to everyone who has been supporting the Fertile Ground movement; see you on the 10th!!!

We hope you can make it!

Cheers,

Lyrics that hit the mind: Shades of Grey - Jaiden

Singer/songwriter JAIDEN "The Cure" has recently dropped his latest mixtape, "Shades of Grey."  The project is really dope, and the title track speaks to some of the very philosophies I cosign.  Check out these lyrics (artfully reposted, LOL), and listen to the song as well (at the bottom).  Enjoy!

SHADES OF GREY

J. Roston

They probably should've said,

"Thou Shalt Not Kill (Except for
Food
    Land
        Enemies
            and Anybody With Oil)"

Unconditional Love sounds pretty
    BUT
- You'll learn -
The only One who loves you without 'em is

GOD above...

Life is never Black or White
Only Shades of Grey...
Never quickly turns to night

Some times to every day
(We're living in Shades of Grey)

Oh yes, we are....

I met her at the afterparty / I said "You ever been wit a girl?" / She said "NAW nigga, I don't get down like that. / But when that PATRON got in her / She said, "well...there was this one time.." / And by the end of the night / We were takin' home somethin' that we both liked...yeah.../

Life is never Black or White
Only Shades of Grey...
Never quickly turns to night

Some times to every day
(We're living in Shades of Grey)

Oh yes, we are....

I  s a i d  I  w o u l d  n e v e r  s m o k e  ;  t h a t ' s  t i l l  I  f e l l  i n  l o v e  w i t h  t h e  s w i s h e r .   I ' d  p r o b a b l y  p u t  i t  d o w n  t h o u g h ,  i f  e v e r y b o d y  s t o p p e d  f u c k i n '  w i t  m e.

I try anything once
(Hell, ya only live once)
I don't never say never

'Cause that's a word you'll be forced to eat...

Life is never Black or White
Only Shades of Grey...
Never quickly turns to night
